What we believe

We are a new church that exists to proclaim the glory of the Triune God in North Summit County, the greater Western Reserve, and the world by worshipping him and bearing witness to Christ’s redemptive kingdom.

We are:

Christian – We self-consciously find ourselves in the stream of historic Christianity that is expressed in classic creeds such as the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.

Protestant – The five “solas” represent the clarity the Protestant Reformation brought to the church in the 1500s. The “solas” are Sola Scriptura (“scripture alone”), Sola Fide (“faith alone”), Solus Christus (“Christ alone”), Sola Gratia (“grace alone”), and Soli Deo Gloria (“glory to God alone”).

Reformed – One of the prominent streams out of the Protestant Reformation was the Reformed tradition, articulated in seminal form by John Calvin. It departed from the Roman catholic church in areas such as the authority of Scripture, the doctrines of sin and salvation, church government, worship, and the sacraments. This Reformed tradition spread far and wide starting in the 16th Century and took root in many different contexts.

Presbyterian – The Reformed tradition took shape in the British Isles and became known there as Presbyterianism because the church was governed by elders (“presbyters”). In the 1640s, the Westminster Confession of Faith and Larger and Shorter Catechisms were drafted and most notably adopted in Scotland, and those documents are the doctrinal standards for Western Reserve Presbyterian Church and our denomination, the Presbyterian Church in America.

Why a church plant?

Church planting isn’t a side project—it’s at the very center of the church’s God-given mission.

Sent by Redeemer Church in Hudson, Western Reserve is the product of this vision of the mission of the church, and we hope to continue to plant churches to be faithful to Christ’s call that the church “go and make disciples of all nations” (Matthew 28:19).

Who we are

Leadership

Being a church plant in the PCA, our church is overseen by a temporary governing body comprised of the elders of  our mother church, Redeemer Church in Hudson. While Redeemer oversees the big picture, much of the day-to-day care of the church is done by our Pastor, Pastoral Assistant, and the other leadership that Redeemer has sent to WRPC:  Ruling Elder Jim Hasson, Deacon Chad Darr, and Deacon Ray Sierko.
